Year 2

In Year 2, our learning will focus on the exciting concept of change. We will explore how people, places and environments have transformed over time by linking two major historical events, The Great Fire of London and The Titanic. To deepen our understanding, we will visit the SeaCity Museum, where the children can explore real artefacts and interactive exhibits. Throughout the term, the children will also complete quizzes and retrieval activities to help them remember key facts.

As part of our Great Fire of London artwork, the children will be making prints of the wooden houses from 1666 and experimenting with colour mixing to create the fiery shades of the flames that swept through London.

During the summer term, our science learning will focus on plants. The children will grow their own plants from seeds and bulbs, discover which parts of plants we can eat, and investigate what plants need to thrive. To bring our learning to life, we will visit Wisley Gardens, where the children can see plants in their natural habitats and compare different biomes from around the world.

In PE, the children will enjoy two lessons each week: one indoors and one outdoors. They will learn new physical skills, develop teamwork, and understand the rules of a variety of new games and sports.

It promises to be a fantastic year full of curiosity, creativity and hands‑on learning!
